Who we are
J. Whelan Galway Ltd. (JW Tools) operates jwtools.ie and may operate other websites. It is JW Tools policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.
Website visitors
Like most website operators, JW Tools collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. JW Tools’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how JW Tools’ visitors use its website. From time to time, JW Toolss may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
JW Tools also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on jwtools.ie blogs/sites. JW Tools only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog/site where the comment was left.
Gathering of personally-identifying information
Certain visitors to JW Tools’ websites choose to interact with JW Tools in ways that require JW Tools to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that JW Tools gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up at jwtools.ie to provide a username and email address. Those who engage in transactions with JW Tools are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, JW Tools collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with JW Tools. JW Tools may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. JW Tools may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, JW Tools does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of certain personally-identifying information
JW Tools discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on JW Tools’ behalf or to provide services available at JW Tools’ websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. If you send us a request (for example via email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. JW Tools takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. JW Toolss uses cookies to help JW Tools identify and track visitors, their usage of the JW Tools website, and their website access preferences. JW Tools visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using JW Tools’ websites, with the drawback that certain features of JW Tools’ websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
Business transfers

Although most changes are likely to be minor, JW Tools may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in JW Tools’ sole discretion. JW Tools encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. If you have a jwtools.ie account, you might also receive an alert informing you of these changes. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What right you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Our online shop
We use a a tool called “Woocommerce” to power our online shop. We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store.

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.
When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:
